Now in a New Location!

Sheila Finkenbinder, Sitka Works Director, outside the new office in
the Armstrong Building on the Sheldon Jackson College campus.

Sitka Works is located in the Sheldon Jackson College Administration building,
on the corner of Jeff Davis and Lincoln Streets.



Programs for adults and youth in Sitka who wish to improve their employment situation. Currently we are doing that through these avenues:
  • Small Business Resource Center - Accelerating the growth and development of small and emerging businesses in Sitka, Alaska by providing training, technical assistance and support.
  • Job Training - The Sitka Works Project helps those who are unemployed or underemployed to find good jobs.
  • Employment Resources - Just a click away you will find links to sites that list local, state, and national job openings and others that help you in your job search, such as writing resumes and cover letters. An assortment of books, pamphlets, tapes and workbooks is also available here in our office.

Sitka Works is a non-profit agency that was created in October of 1997, in order to assist unemployed and underemployed adults in Sitka to find new ways of making a living. We have a seven member board of directors, and are open to input from community members. Founder and Director, Sheila Finkenbinder, has been administering employment training programs since 1991, and has been a small business owner with her husband since 1972.

Our mission statement:
To support and diversify opportunities for work,
and to increase the employment level, within the
City and Borough of Sitka, by providing employment
training and small business development assistance.
