After eleven years, we are closing our doors,
but the legacy of what we began lives on.
Employment programs are now available through the Sitka Job Center at
403 Lake Street or the Sitka Tribe of Alaska.
The Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce may be providing some business assistance, as Sitka Works’ founding director, Sheila Finkenbinder, is now the Executive Director at the Chamber of Commerce.

Sitka Works is a non-profit agency that was created in
October of 1997, in order to assist unemployed and underemployed adults in
Sitka to find new ways of making a living. We have a seven member board of
directors, and are open to input from community members. Founder and Director,
Sheila Finkenbinder, has been administering employment training programs
since 1991, and has been a small business owner with her husband since 1972.
Our mission statement:
To support and diversify opportunities for work,
and to increase the employment level, within the
City and Borough of Sitka, by providing employment
training and small business development assistance.
