Job Training
This program ran from July 2004 to December 2007. Funding is no longer available with the business shut down.
We were funded through a sub grant from the Department of Labor & Workforce Development in Juneau, Alaska to train Bus Drivers for Tribal Tours.
If you were found eligible for the training program, we provided:

Class C CDL training

First Aid & CPR training

CDL physical exams

Uniforms for Tribal Tours job
You had to be a 'Dislocated' Worker, a U.S. Citizen, a SE Alaska resident, and at least 18 years of age to be part of this program. You were a 'Dislocated' Worker if:

Your job had been
eliminated or you had been laid off for a period of time expected to be 6
months or more, and you were unlikely to return to a job in your previous
industry or occupation within commuting distance of your residence

Your job had been
eliminated, or you received a notice of layoff, due to Plant Closure
or Substantial Layoff within a 30 day period

Your employer had
announced that the facility where you worked would close within 180 days
-
Your employer had
made a general announcement that the facility where you worked would close

You were
self-employed and unemployed due to Economic Conditions or Natural
Disasters
-
You were a displaced
Homemaker who no longer received the support of another family member, and
you were unemployed or underemployed
Employment training programs are now available through the Sitka Job Center at 403 Lake Street or the Sitka Tribe of Alaska.
