Sheila Finkenbinder / Director

As Founder and Director, Sheila Finkenbinder oversees Sitka Works’ employment and small business programs, as well as providing technical assistance to business clients. Educated as a teacher, she used her teaching and business background to start the agency in 1997. Her goal is to help adults in Sitka find rewarding work, either in jobs or their own enterprises.

Sheila has run small businesses with her husband, Ken, since 1983. They have lived in Sitka since 1990, and are both firearms safety instructors. She is also the coordinator of the 'Running of the Boots', an annual Sitka ‘friendraising’ event.

Sheila has served on the board of directors for the Cape Decision Lighthouse Society since 1998, and was appointed to the governing board for Alaska InvestNet in July 2004.
